School Murals: Winter, Christmas, Winter Rest

In cooperation with the Lehrstuhl für Systematische Bildungswissenschaft, Forschungsstelle Historische Bildmedien at the University of Würzburg The Forschungsstelle Historische Bildmedien (Research Center on the History of Visual Media) possesses the largest collection of school murals in Europe - about 20,000 original pieces of art, on all teaching subjects, stretching back 150 years. The Museum für Franken is happy to present a selection of winter-themed paintings to the wider public for the first time. Paintings on display range from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century. Older visitors may be reminded of their own school years and the younger ones will be amazed to see how people presented such diverse topics in colourful murals - and all without modern technology!
