Gardens in Lower Franconia - Portrait of Man & Nature
22 July to 21 October 2018
How have people dreamed about their gardens through the centuries? What values and ideas are behind it, what benefits has it promised? These and other questions follow the travelling exhibition “Gardens in Lower Franconia,” which the District of Lower Franconia presented from 22 July 2018, first in the Museum für Franken at the Marienberg Fortress in Würzburg.
Whether for recreation or food, or to demonstrate wealth and power: there are many reasons for people creating, and continuing to create gardens. This cultural diversity of gardens is also reflected in the richly illustrated exhibition, which is aimed at a wide audience, garden lovers, nature lovers and families. It focuses on attractive Lower Franconian gardens which can be visited by everyone with an interest while also giving a historical overview of how gardens have developed in our region. Numerous hands-on elements and tactile and visual objects underline the sensuality of the “garden” Theme.
