pics4peace - Youth for Democracy and Peace
9 March - 15 April 2018
pics4peace is - in short - an initiative for peace, freedom and democracy.
It is address to young people and politics and consists of three parts: pics4peace on the ground, pics4peace online and pics4peace in dialogue.
pics4peace on the ground – A Special Exhibition at the Museum für Franken
Young artists at the Department of Design at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt work together with the renowned Berlin artist Winfried Muthesius. At a workshop, they try out their method of “pittura oscura,” which involves applying one layer on top of another. Not only are different techniques used, such as painting and photography, but levels of time and meaning are also superimposed. Inspired by Würzburg’s historical locations and events, the young artists created works that they then brought to this place and relate to the city. They capture that in a photo. When printed, this again serves as a template for further artistic exploration, for example by being painted over. In the creative process, the past of Würzburg, the present, and the wishes of the artists for the future are thus processed. The works of the students will be exhibited from March to April, together with three large-format works by the artist Muthesius in the Schönbornhalle of the Museum für Franken. The first visual impressions can be found on Instagram.
pics4peace online
pics4peace online invites young people between the ages of 16 and 26 to express themselves in the language that suits them most and the medium in which they usually work. One might be a good painter, another a photographer or a graffiti artist. Others write poems, make video clips or create music. The topic is: what do we need so that we can continue to live in freedom, peace and democracy in the future? www.pics4peace.de
