From Where | Where To – An Exhibition of Arrival and Departure

The New Travelling Exhibition by the District of Lower Franconia at the Museum für Franken

People have always left their homes for different reasons: to find work, freedom or security, out of economic hardship, love or curiosity, in the service of faith, trade or science.

As a major commercial, university, cultural, industrial and border region, Lower Franconia has been characterised historically by a high level of migration – and by a marked gain in cultural influences and inspirational exchanges.

The District of Lower Franconia’s exhibition, which will go on display for the first time from December 2019 in the Museum für Franken before then going on tour, provides examples of stories from different epochs and shows that mobility and migration have been characteristic elements of our society for centuries. Seven subject areas with texts, images and objects, as well as multimedia and interactive exhibits, help visitors to understand connections, discover tracks and traces, and forget their prejudices.

Experience the exhibition with your kids (6-12 years)! The free Action-Travelling-Suitcase invites the whole familiy on an expedition tour.

Further information about the travelling exhibition can be found on the exhibition’s homepage.
