The Big Festival in the Museum of Franconia at Marienberg Fortress
On 4 September 2022, it’s that time again. We invite you to the large museum festival at Marienberg Fortress. A journey back in time which offers young and old a varied and exciting programme. The individual exhibits invite you to have a look, take part and try them out: from the scriptorium, chain mail and suits of armour through knights, fair maidens, and courtly love to crafts and fencing, there is much to discover, experience and explore.
Visitors can expect an exciting programme, including making leather jewellery, making ropes, striking coins or writing using a pen and quill – the various attractions almost beg you to join in. Of course, historic fencing, bronze casting and medieval music, which lend the festival such an atmospheric experience, are also very special. The appearance of the Hospitallers and the exciting fairy tales by Gesine Kleinwächter are certainly a highlight, just like the large craft market, which extends you an invitation to come, wonder and rummage through everything. Not to forget popular classics such as painting at the easel and making hobbyhorses or spinning tops!
It is therefore time to marvel, make discoveries and try out everything at the museum festival, where the world of noble knights and damsels comes to life at Marienberg Fortress. Needless to say, the restaurants and taverns this year are once again an important part of the experience and ensure that the festival’s visitors will be well-fed!
The visit to the museum will be an enchanting experience for the whole family!
